Tábua is located at 35 Km from Coimbra City in the center of Portugal.

This region has diversified landscapes, the interior is mountainous with some plateaus, dominated by the Serra da Estrela mountain.

The region is plentiful of pine and chestnut trees. The green, rugged landscape of this region is crisscrossed by rivers. Several river valleys at the foot of the mountains have a full bodied charm that draw one to outdoor activities like fishing, tennis and canoeing.

In the Winter season, skiing in Serra da Estrela is a popular activity, but in some places, like near the town of Seia skiing before the Winter season is possible due to artificial snow infrastructures.

The coastal plain has several beaches, like the ones of Mira, Figueira da Foz, Nazaré, Peniche and Aveiro.

Natural landmarks in this region are the Serra da Estrela mountain range (the biggest and highest in mainland Portugal), with its Serra da Estrela Natural Park, the Mondego river, the Aveiro Lagoon (Ria de Aveiro) and the coastal beaches.

This is a portuguese town, were a lot of people come to visit places like Piodão Historic Village and Estrela Mountain.

This town have almost everything, cafes, restaurants, shops, banks, bars, library, hospytal, swimming pool, stadium.

» SERRA DA ESTRELA:

Serra da Estrela (English: Mountain of the Star) is the highest mountain range in Portugal and includes mainland Portugal's highest peak (Pico mountain in the Portuguese Azores islands is higher), which has a natural altitude of 1993 m (around 6541 feet).

However, in 1716 - 1726 the Portuguese king João V ordered the construction of a 7 m tall tower so that the peak could reach 2000 m. The location of this tower is known as "Torre" ("Tower", literally translated).

The mountain range is about 100 km long and is 30 km at its widest point. It is formed from a huge granite ridge that once formed the southern frontier of the country.

Due to its bizarrely shaped crags and gorges, mountain streams and lakes, beautiful forests and magnificent views, the area ranks among Portugal's outstanding scenic attractions.Viriathus,famous lusitanian leader and portuguese national hero was born here,precisely in Loriga.

» ALDEIA HISTÓRICA DO PIÓDÃO:

The village of Piodão lies on a curve in the road, like a little crib nestling at the foot of a hill. The delightful, orderly appearance of the houses and streets, all built of schist, is interrupted by the deep blue of the windows and doors of some of the houses. This use of colour is said to originate from the fact that the one shop in the village stocked only blue paint, and due to the isolation it was not easy to travel elsewhere. It was also the isolation that preserved the historic characteristics of Piodão as we see them today.

A origem de Santa Comba Dão, uma Abadessa Beneditina, de sua graça, Columba foi martirizada, numa das incursões árabes sobre a Península Ibérica. Estava-se no ano de 982 da Era Cristã e o tempo era de guerra entre Mouros e Cristãos.

Columba ficou Santa e o tempo tornou-a Santa Comba. As águas do Dão fizeram o resto.
